My favorite places: Cincinnati, Tulsa and home

I couldn't pick just one place as my favorite, so I picked three: Cincinnati, where I just spent the summer doing an internship at the Cincinnati Enquirer, Tulsa, where I worked at the Tulsa World two summers ago, and my hometown of College Station, Texas.

I'd never been to Cincinnati before this summer, but I fell in love with the place. It's right on the Ohio River, which separates Ohio and Kentucky, and it's a place with a lot of history. One of my favorite spots was the Findlay Market, a farmers market that has pretty much every type of food you could hope for.

I spent the summer of 2016 in Tulsa as a web intern at the Tulsa World. I worked in downtown Tulsa, and lived not too far from there. It's a fun, vibrant part of Oklahoma.

Another one of my favorite places is the one that feels most like home: College Station, Texas. My family has lived there for more than ten years now. Even though I spend more time in Norman than College Station now, it's where I call home. The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, pictured below, is a place I've been a number of times — I take senior photos, and the garden behind the museum is a beautiful spot for portraits.

  1. I had forgotten the Bush Library was there in College Station, Dana! Very cool! My dad lives in Austin pretty near the LBJ Library; that's the only presidential library I've ever visited. Although, of course, I am a fan of any library in any form... if some travel agency offered a "Tour of the World's Great Libraries," I would be totally up for that! :-)

    1. It's a neat library inside and out! I'm sure I went to the LBJ Library when I was little, since I was born there and lived there for a few years later, but I don't remember it. I'll have to go back and check it out!

  2. Wow, I’ve never been to Cincinnati, but it sounds like I need to visit. Coming from a foodie, I think cool grocery shops like the Findlay Market are just so much fun to explore. I live about forty-five minutes away from Tulsa, so I’m familiar with Tulsa World, and I think it’s so cool you got to spend a summer there!

  3. I haven't ever been to Cincinnati, but I have been to Tulsa and College Station & I love them both. I especially love CStat! I have a lot of friends that go to Texas A&M and visiting them is always really fun. The library especially is so fun. I also know a girl that spent some time at the Tulsa World so that's really cool that you got to intern there as well!
