Thoughts on course technology
I don't think the technology used in this course will be too challenging to keep up with. I'm looking forward to using Google Sites, Weebly or Wix to build a website for the project later — I have built websites with Wordpress and Squarespace before, but I haven't used those platforms.
I'm pretty comfortable with making graphics and editing images, since I use the Adobe Creative Suite to do those things in my journalistic work, but I'm excited to learn free online tools to make those processes easier and more accessible.
I'm also a big fan of Google Docs (and Sheets and Slides and Forms). I use it to take notes for most of my classes and to organize my schoolwork and work I do outside of school. It's convenient to keep everything in one place and be able to access my documents from wherever I am.
This online class is significantly different than others I've taken: most have kept the online coursework confined to Canvas, but the way this course is set up seems like it'll be flexible and interesting. I'm interested in seeing if I can do any custom design for my storybook website — that's something that's fun and challenging for me.
