Week 8 Reading and Writing

Looking back at my reading notes, I think I've done well in taking useful notes that help me brainstorm storytelling posts. I like to make my notes a very brief summary of some of the different stories I've read with ideas for how I might take new twists on them to make them my own stories, which helps me for the storytelling posts.

I'm excited about my class project. Just writing the introduction was a fun, creative exercise for me. I tried to check out Jeff Provine's book about campus ghosts at OU, but I was told the copy was missing. Spooky. I bought the Kindle version instead, which should work nicely too. I'm really looking forward to reading more so I can start some of the individual stories for my Storybook.

I think my biggest accomplishment in my writing for this class is simply using my creative writing skills. I write often in my journalism classes and in my work, but I so rarely get to write imaginatively, just for fun. This class has really allowed me to open up my creative toolbox.

I know I need to read and write more in this class — I've neglected my reading and storytelling a bit in this class, and I've fallen behind a little. I'm going to use this week to catch up, rack up some extra credit, and get back on a regular schedule for my posts. I find that I work better in the mornings, so I am going to try spending some mornings when I don't have in-person classes reading and doing my writing assignments for this class.

I chose this photo of a parrot to include this week because the bird's big eyes look curious, and I want to bring curiosity to my reading and writing assignments for this class.
